Sophia Yacoby - Week 8 HW
After I leave college, as an artist, I mostly plan to become a game artist. My main focus in the game industry is mainly character design and 3D art. Character design is what I’d really like to do because I have so many wonderful and creative ideas that I would love to share with others. I’ve also been extremely fascinated with character design ever since I was a little kid. Back when I was little, I used to draw my own characters and create comics. I would show my artwork to my parents, leaving them completely in awe. I would also like to focus in 3D art because I’ve done some 3D artwork using Blender for the past 8 to 9 years. But then, I thought that using Blender won’t be enough. I need to learn to use other 3D programs, like 3Ds Max or Maya. Furthermore, my friends from school and family have always encouraged me to pursue in an art career that will take my artistic talent and be put into good use. So, I took that word of advice and am now attending LCAD, which will help me get into the gaming industry. I hope one day to share my amazing ideas with a working team, bring my ideas into a game, and sell it across the world.
Sebastian Kings - Week 8 HW
I don’t have a particular job I want, or dream company I want to work for. Make no
mistake - I’m absolutely dedicated to learning the skills I need to succeed in the game industry -
but I’d rather follow my enthusiasm and take whichever opportunities present themselves, rather
than pigeon-hole myself into one role in one company that I ultimately might not be happy with.
I’m fortunate enough to have parents who are supportive and understand the value of
design, so to them I am indebted. With their support, I’ve been able to practice drawing for as
long as I can remember - and I continue to do so. No matter what I end up doing - concept, 3D,
storyboarding, whatever it is - I want to have impeccable drawing skills. I don’t leave home
without a sketchbook, and I make sure to draw every day, from both life and imagination. I see
no other way to bring my skills to a professional level.
Using these 2D skills, I’ve made mobile games with a friend of mine, who is an
incredibly skilled programmer. Together we’ve released Storm the Beach and Pocket Squadron ,
and I’ve found that I deeply enjoy creating games from a wholistic angle - working with people
from different skill sets, and thinking of how a game’s mechanics, art direction, and sound
design work together - rather than only working on a narrow part of the game development
pipeline. This is definitely something I want to continue doing, since these games have been an
absolute blast to make, and are financially successful.
It’s too early for me to say if I should work at a small startup, AAA studio, or focus on
creating my own games with my best friend - but I have complete confidence that between my
abilities as an artist, work ethic, and the network of extraordinary alumni, students, and teachers
I’ve met at LCAD, I will launch into a successful career in the game industry.

Richard Peraza - Week 8 HW
My dream job has always been to work in the gaming industry, whether it is 3D modeling, texturing, concept art, animation, graphic design, rigging, editor, story, design, VFX art, etc. There is too many job too choose from and they’re all really fun and can create such amazing work, but my favorite job I have the most fun would be 3D modeling. I love everything when it comes to 3D modeling as well as texturing, rigging, VFX, and animating it. I mostly done 3D modeling and texturing, but so far I have little experience in rigging, VFX, and animation. They’re fun but I feel I need to work on a big project involving rigging, VFX, and animation to truly understand what it take to work on those position. The more I know, the better chance on landing my dream is what I always believe.
I understand that in game art there is a character and environment emphasis. I’ve done drawings on character and enviroment but I haven’t done much in modeling on those emphasis. Mostly I just model props so I still haven't decided yet on what emphasis to go for. What always get me pump up in inspiration is looking at those reel video like the one on Blur Studios reel from their website. Other in games, I also wanted to model for these cinematic reel, whether it's for games or movies.

Mercedes Smith - Week 8 HW
What I want to do with my life, first and foremost I want to be successful. I want to be an art director be it in cinimatic, games, environment. Where ever it may lead me. I love the idea of leading and hiring a team. Being the person to ask questions to. I like creating schedules and time slots and working with team mates to create a piece of work. I like using the skills and talents of others to achieve a goal.
I aim to expand my knowledge and skill to the point where I can be the person people go to for questions. I love being a team leader as much as I like being part of a team. Working hard with little time is my ideal.
This is super short I am so sorry I had a long thing written up but I turned my computer off during the lightening storm earlier.

Melissa Peterman - Week 8 HW
My dream job as a game artist would to be to able to create 2D style games that contain an overall compelling story, character design, and have mechanics that are strategy based. I would like to make games with or without the help of a company backing me. In terms of style and design, I do not want to work on realistic designs like the games: the Fallout Series, the Call of Duty Series, the Dragon Age Series, etc. Instead, I would like to use cartoonish/anime designs such as the Pokemon Series, the Nippon Ichi games, and the Digimon Series. The cutesier the style/design, the happier I am.
I do not really have a specific field in the Gaming Industry that I solely want to work on. More so, I would like to work in multiple fields like story, concept, design, and even UI and animation (I would only accept modeling if it was stylized and not realistic.) The reason why I want to learn multiple fields is so I have the knowledge to, in the end, be the director of my own games without the need of major assistance of others. If I had to choose a specify field, it would be either story or concept, because I would have the most amount of creative freedom.
Above all else, I want to earn money in a respectable manner that will help reestablish trust between the customer and the producer. I would not condone underhanded tactics to earn more money from a game such as cutting up sections of the game to later sell it as DLC, paying for cosmetics, paying to make the game easier, preorder bonuses, and most importantly, selling a
game that clearing was not ready to be released. As a costumer myself, I know how frustrating it is when such tactics are used and abused; that is why I want to learn a bit of everything when it comes to making games. If I cannot find a company that does not use crooked practices, I will be able to do it on my own or with a small group.

Leah Jackson - Week 8 HW
Through out my stay here at LCAD I’ve come to realze more and more that my career goals line up mostly around the Gaming Industry. This is why I switched my major from Illustration to Game Art. I kept realizing that everytime I talked about future dream jobs I would always mention illustration highly rendered digital paintings for game companys. Last year I was looking into applying for the Riot Illustrator Interen team but decided not to because I felt ill prepared. Switching my major is going to cause a year delay on graduation but this does not upset me. It just means I am going to be overly prepared and get the exact education I need to be a strong contender to video game companys. I am keeping my options open as to which positions I would take working for a company but they mostly revolve around doing high rendereings of things such as texture painting, or concept art, or really finished and dynamic digital splash art. I still have yet to take more 3D classes and I am really hoping to enjoy that as well. I want to be well rounded and find multiple things to enjoy about Game Art to expand my options. It would be really awesome to work for a company whose game I love or have played a lot. Companys like this would include Blizzard (World of War Craft), Riot Games (League of Legends), the company that created Dungeons and Dragons and do illustrations of creatures or props for their books, and more. It would be really cool to gain expereience from a well known and popular company and have really cool things to put in my resume. After I am hopefully well established and stable financially I might want to move on to smaller indie companys or even try to partner up with someone who knows how to code for games and I can work on all the art. I hope to achieve some of these goals and make a successful career out of what I am spending so much time and money to learn here. So hopefully, that actually happens.
Jongmin Seo - Week 8 HW
I am interested in many filed in game industry : 3d modeling, visual Effects, storyboard, Etc. 3d modeling is the most intense thing that I can learn from this school, this is the skill what people in game industry are looking for the most recently. And visual effects are the fastest way of getting a job in the gaming industry, too. So I am interested in. After this class, I got interested and passion for making a story, so I personally wish to work related to story-making field in entertainment industry.
However, the most interesting field for me is VR and starting a business with that with my art skill. My background is basically from business. My parents are business people. My brother does account job in company. My cousins are running business, too, and I studied business major before transferring here. I want to make a team and game with them in VR. I see a lot of possibilities with that. Big game companies todays are looking for people who have specific skill in specific field. But I would like to do business and art in small team first, and I want to make that team bigger together. It is more like becoming a producer. In order to achieve this. I will go to conference and try team projects with people from different field as many as I can and will gather some information and connection from there.
P. S. Special thanks to Ira Owen. I appreciate you a lot for helping me to take a first step for my carrier.
