Grace Kim - Week 2 HW

For this story I’m following the outline of the fairy tale of Hansel and Gretel where we have two characters (whose character name sakes I am going to use for now: Illaoi and Akali) who were kidnapped as children by a malicious demon spirit who has awoken from a long slumber. To restore its full power, it must feed on the heart of a child from the villages and towns surrounding this immense forest, one child for each month of the year. This demon sways and reels in children disguising itself as an animal or bribes them with sweets. Illaoi and Akali, who are half siblings, were both kidnapped yada yada going into story my bad, anyways, they were able to scheme together and find their way out of their cages and defeat the demon and from then on out develop a stronger bond as siblings despite their differing status. Since then, they promised to grow up learning how to become demon hunters together. Illaoi was born from an affair between a noble and trader. The mother, who was the noble, decided to keep her but she was known as the bastard child. Because of this, most of the family paid her no attention at all or refused to acknowledge her existence except for her mother and half-sister, Akali, who grew up causing mischief together. Illaoi became one of the head servants so that she can stay close to the family without causing controversy. She is a very loyal, stubborn, and determined woman who is strong and reliable but has a do first think later attitude and hates feeling helpless. She is a darker skinned muscular woman (tank) who uses a large demon dispelling hammer (or smthing idk dude maybe w/ a shield too or big ol’ spirit capturing container). She is older than Akali by 2 years. Akali is the eldest child of aristocrats within this prestigious trading town (name tbd) who is expected to inherit her family’s business and along with it, fortune. She has a large disdain for the politics surrounding being nobles because she has a rather playful and prankster personality. She is intelligent and elegant, as expected of being grown up through nobility but also distrustful because she has seen first hand the backstabbing and betrayal that can happen through these squabbles for power. During their travels as demon hunters, she often uses her nobility status as leverage but never as a tool to belittle others. She is the level headed one of the two. Compared to her sibling, she is slender and much more agile (assassin) and uses 2 kama or maybe a kusarigama not sure yet WELP.
