Personally, I am not a consumer that is highly interested with the story of a game. Although I find it a very important element, I am personally more drawn to gameplay. With that being said, I chose the lore of my favorite game, DotA 2. DotA 2’s background story takes place on a futuristic Earth with the universe consisting of two major forces, the Radiant and the Dire ancients, fighting each other until the other ceases to exist. These forces were imprisoned in the moon by another powerful force (much like a God) to keep them from destroying each other.
One day the moon crashes onto Earth releasing various fragments, or crystals, from each ancient. These scattered crystals have the power to take over the minds that go near them, becoming “creeps” to act as forces for one of the ancients. The only ones who are able to withstand this mind-controlling power of the crystals are known as Heroes.
In Dota 2, you play as one of these Heroes, fighting for either of the two ancients. You are aided
by the creeps that fight for your side as well. The object of the game is to destroy the enemy ancient.
