Dream Job in the Games Industry

When I first came to LCAD I was set on being a Concept artist, and I came here fully willing to pursue that path. Even still I am keeping that in mind and if the opportunity were to come I would certainly jump at the chance to be a concept artist. However I do not think I currently have the drawing skills to actually do it. With diligent practice I am sure I could get there, but thanks to this school I have found another possible route into the games industry. I had my first sculpting class here at this school and it was an eye opening experience and one of the most fun ways to create art. And this semester I am learning zbrush which is gives me the same thrill and I would love to also pursue that path into the games industry doing 3D character and creature designs. All the possibilities that zbrush brings to the table for concept design in games gives me a lot of hope for the future and what cool things I could create. By the time I am done at this school my drawing skills will have advanced to a level where being a concept artist is attainable which would be a difficult path but is certainly fun.

Introduction: Midas Touch 

Starting with a fly over shot of the transformed landscape of Downtown Los Angeles buildings stacked upon each other. Skyscrapers are littering the landscape with dark caverns between them and the city looks like a breathing organism as smog and smoke plume out of the landscape. There is a lot of activity almost like blood cells in the veins of a body. We can see the Heavily dilapidated hollywood sign now surrounded by apartment complexes and other various buildings. We tighten into a shot of a advanced looking installation. As we come in closer it's a hospital with a flurry of motion patients coming and going and ambulances and flying vehicles are landing on the rooftop. We cut to the interior of the hospital and are just outside the OR with several doctors standing above a patient lying in center on the table. Robotic limbs coming out of the side of the table set on 6 axis gimbals used for precision cutting and cybernetic implantation flank both sides of the patient. They are moving of their own accord performing scans and probing the left arm of the patient. Then we cut to a the surgery and see as the the patient's arm is removed and a new cybernetic limb is attached in its place with muscle groups being given new connections and socketed into a cybernetic prosthetic.The shot concludes with the patient waking up and in first person view lifts his arm up to examine his new appendage. He rests it down grabbing the metal hand-rail on the side of his hospital bed and you can see some cybernetics begin to spread outward from his fingertips replacing the standard metal surface with something a bit more organic and living.

Brennan White - Week 2 HW

Midas Touch Fairytale/ Cyberpunk 

The year is 2052 and human augmentations with cybernetics has become commonplace not just for people who have lost limbs but for everyone looking to improve themselves in nearly anyway possible as any limb can be replaced with something to improve performance. The main character is Geoff Knight who was a former police officer and was later moved to a job in the CIA and has undergone cybernetic augmentations in order to improve his investigation abilities as he hunts down rogue corporations. They are using their money and political status to perform human experiments in order to create better cybernetics. He is driven by the Atlas Corporation one of the largest in the U.S. was responsible for his family losing their home and his parents having fallen into poverty from their jobs being lost as well. His father eventually died after they lost their home and lived on the streets for a time. He doesn't want these corporations using their influence to push out people and ruin lives like they did to his family. This includes an experimental arm augmentation which can integrate objects into his cybernetic arm and also turn objects into augmentations for himself. However he begins to rely too much on this new found power. It is quickly helping him to raise in ranks in the intelligence agency since he can gather information at will and make use of found weapons more easily than anyone else. He slowly loses control over what objects he can choose to turn into cybernetics and what can’t and it comes back to haunt him. Tie in to Midas Touch- He was given the ability to turn something he touches into cybernetics and even assimilate them into his cybernetic limbs. At first he has complete control over the ability and can assimilate weapons to improve his fighting potential, or even assimilate computers to mine them for information. Except as he uses this ability more he slowly loses his control over the ability and to choose what he touches that will be turned into cybernetics even the people closest to him begin to suffer as his ability runs out of control.
