One of the games I’ve had the most pleasure of discovering is the Dragon Age trilogy by Bioware. I’ve always been a huge sucker for fantasy in games, art, books, TV, etc. So when I happened across this game during a Steam sale I’ve been hooked since. If you really want to sucker me into a game, give me the ability to customize my character with various races and features. This game gave me just that AND IT WAS BEAUTIFUL. Once you finish customizing them, you get thrown into the story where you start off in the first game as a newly appointed Grey Warden, bringing people together to fight through the Fifth Blight. The story is enchanting and hooks you, dragging you into the world to find out more about what it has to offer. Especially in the 2nd game, one develops a sense of friendship and even romance with these characters that Bioware hands us that you end up care about deeply. The dialogue wheel is a very interesting way to have your character interact with the world, by choosing the option to be diplomatic, sarcastic, or aggressive.
The three games tie in together quite nicely, there is the occasional plot hole here and there, but for something so epic I can forgive that. I really enjoy the fighting style in the 3rd game compared to the other two because of the fluidity and because of the games new updated engine allowing the world to be seen in a new light as it was meant to be seen in, in all it’s glory with beautiful graphics and scenery, a definite step up from the first game which has a very bleak and monotone palette and older outdated models but still an amazing story that I have had a pleasure in existing in.
