My favorite game is pretty much Final Fantasy VII. It was released in 1997 by a
company now known as Square Enix (previously Square). FFVII was the first game of
the series to use 3D computer graphics. This RPG follows Cloud Strife, who joins an
anti-terrorist group called AVALANCHE to stop a megacorporation from draining the life
of the planet, but later gets involved with an even bigger threat named Sephiroth.
The reason why I like this game so much lies mostly in the storyline. Obviously, it
being a game from 1997, the graphics are by no means great. However, because of
this, it forces you to use your imagination and kind of make the game yours. The
mannerisms of these tiny characters on screen do a lot to make you understand what
they’re feeling, and the rest is up to you. The storyline is deep and full of friendship,
sadness, happiness, laughter and provokes you to ask questions about your own life if
you pay attention. The game is long and contains endless quests and areas to explore,
giving you plenty of time to connect with all of Square’s well developed characters and a
chance to feel something and relate to them, all of which make an enthralling story. I
also enjoy the battle system, even though outdated, because depending on how fast
you make the settings, it forces you to think quickly, therefore making it fun regardless
of its limitations. Another important factor that really makes me love this game is the
music. It was developed by Nobuo Uematsu and there really isn't anything quite like it.
Again, it’s outdated sound because of the system back then, but it does it’s job in
making you feel according to what’s happening in the plot. All around it’s a great game
and story and personally is rather nostalgic so it always has a special place for me. I
can play it over and over again with gaps in between and enjoy it every time, so that’s
how I know tis my favorite.
