Hannah Friedman - Week 5 HW

Aemon (protagonist) walks past the large potted plants that his clan carries with them. Behind him, his mother shouts: “You can’t be going back to that disgusting little village. Why would you even desire to interact with such indecent people?” Aemon looks towards his mother, shrugs, and then continues. His mother turns towards his father and shakes her head. They return to tending the potted plant garden. Aemon exists the edge of the forest and enters a small town. The buildings are simply constructed from rock and wood, and the town population is no more than 300. As he walks through the small gate, he is greeted by several townspeople with whom he is familiar. He waves, smiles, and eventually makes his way to the town cleric’s house. He knocks on the door and a voice answers “You’re late. The sun is almost at it’s peak.” The young cleric opens the door and Aemon steps in to the humble residence. Aemon apologizes: “I’m sorry. I lost track of time while tending to my family’s garden.” He looks at the plant in a jar attached to his belt loop. “I did water you- TWICE- so shut up.” The plant gives no response and there are several seconds of silence. Aemon continues “if you’re going to sass me I’m just going to leave you outside.” The cleric turns and gestures towards his study “I swear you can’t go five minutes without chatting that thing up. Leave it by the window and let’s get to work.” The cleric walks into the study while continuing “we have several new spells to work on today and- I figured out the recipe the other day.” Aemon unhooks the jar from his belt and leaves it on the table next to him and says “try to behave yourself.” The plant is silent and Aemon turns and enters the study.
